Coach Zubey graduated from De La Sale High School in Concord in 1995, where he was a two-year started as an offensive and defensive lineman. During his time at De La Salle Coach Zubey never lost a high school game! He was a part of “THE STREAK” (games 1 thru 36), the storied 151 game winning streak that stretched from 1992-2004. He won two state championships and a National Championship in football. After high school, he played 2 years at Los Medanos Junior College in Pittsburg, CA, where he switched to linebacker. Coach Zubey played football at ASU and was on the 1997 Sun Bowl Championship team. After playing at ASU, the coach was a graduate assistant for Coach Bruce Snyder and Coach Dirk Koetter for 4 years (2001-2004).
In 2001 he was recruiting GA, and he was the offensive GA for the next three years. He graduated from Arizona State University in 2000 with his BA in physical education and a minor in science. Coach Zubey also holds two Master’s Degrees, one in physical education and another in curriculum and instructions. He is entering his 11th season as head coach at Higley High School. Coach Zubey has also been the Head Coach at Westwood High School in Mesa, AZ, and St. Mary’s High School in Phoenix, AZ.
Coach has taken ALL THREE of those schools to the state playoffs!
He enjoys spending time with family and coaching and cheering on his kids’ sports teams off the field.
